At least he had one of the two he was looking for down… for now.[break][break]

But the other one proved to be pretty elusive. Hell, he’d already seen someone else who had a Corviknight, and as the legally-recognized Flying-theme Gym Leader Alexei was… not amused.[break][break]

How could someone else get that particular Pokémon ahead of him?! It upset him in more ways than one. This upset him so much here he was, trudging through the ash-caked routes of Western Hoenn, knowing that this was his one chance in hell he could find one.[break][break]

…why were there next to no Steel-types sighted on his side of the region, anyway?![break][break]

It was such a mystery.[break][break]

The ash was caked with snow, which didn’t help matters either. If he had a Blaziken or something, he would’ve been able to clear out the falling piles of white, which was threatening to stick so much because of the changed weather patterns.[break][break]

Weather in Hoenn had taken a turn for the strange lately, and he didn’t know why.

It didn’t take too long for him to see something barreling in his direction—and even though it looked familiar to him, it wasn’t what he was looking for.[break][break]

Before anything else, though, a sudden burst of red light forced its way out of his pockets, and Alexei could only watch in silent shock as his Tsareena appeared. Never mind if the place was becoming a mucky mix of ash and snow, the Grass-type bounded forward, and Alexei could only look at the impression of footprints that his Pokémon was leaving in the snow.[break][break]

“Wait!” he called out, making tracks and following her—but ugh, the snow and ash mixing together was making it more difficult for him to follow where the Grass-type was headed! Eventually, he had managed to fight his way through deepening snow banks, and came across as scene where his Tsareena had gone on ahead and had aimed a Trop Kick in the Timburr’s face.[break][break]

“Really?” was all he could say, breathless and utterly exasperated as a Power Whipping lashed out from the regal Pokémon, catching the Timburr off-guard as it attempted to back off and use Scary Face in an attempt to lower the Tsareena’s movement speed.[break][break]

It… worked? Somewhat?[break][break]

But the Tsareena was on the offensive again, aiming another Trop Kick right in the Timburr’s smaller body.[break][break]

“Gee, violent much?” he muttered, watching as the grass-type made quick work of the Tuimburr, finally lashing it down and kicking it away herself before turning around to face Alexei and… preening.[break][break]

Right at him.[break][break]

Oh Arceus, did he have a shitfaced, grinning Grass-type with him?!

After the Tsareena gave him this shit-eating grin, he knew it was time to get her back in the Pokéball since he had better things to do.[break][break]

Only… the Tsareena broke out into a run again at the sound of something scuffling not too far ahead. “Really?” was all he could sigh, before chucking another containment unit forward and this time summoning an Altaria.[break][break]

“Mishka… can you handle her? Like, I don’t know, calm her down or something,” he continued with a sigh of exasperation before letting the Altaira chase after the Tsareena—no doubt to cause even more of a ruckus. He didn’t know what the Grass-type was up to, all he was certain of was that he had a shit disturber for a Pokémon with him.[break][break]

Resigning himself to the situation he was in, he then made to follow the Altaria.[break][break]

The scene he reached was something he was not expecting at all.[break][break]

The Altaria was warbling, Singing—serenading, actually—the Tsareena as well as what he recognized to be a Hakamo-o. He watched in silent wonder as the Altaria was humming—he recognized that the fluffy cloud-like bird was Singing to the two. He didn’t know what had happened before he arrived, but he guessed that Mishka may have lost her patience, because most of the time he knew that the Altaria really disliked using that particular move.[break][break]

The soothing melody washed over the two warring Pokémon, before the Hakamo-o fell asleep with a loud thud on the ash-strewn earth. The Tsareena was on the brink of collapse, but not before Alexei recalled the Grass-type back into her containment unit. Once the field was clear, he approached the Altaria and gave her a neck rub.[break][break]

“Thanks,” he muttered, skirting around the now-slumbering dual-type.[break][break]

Onward.

Now that he was left with the Altaria, they heard another scuffling noise—and as one both human and Pokemon turned around to see the source of the disturbance. While it wasn’t the thing he was looking for, he knew that there was at least someone who could appreciate this weird-looking… cat.[break][break]

“Mishka, go. Try to calm it down, will you? You seem… to have found your voice,” he remarked, hoping that the Altaria got the hint. The cloud-bird made a face, but hummed before flying away to face off against the weird-ass looking… cat… thing.[break][break]

A sudden loud screaming noise came from the weird cat—and the Altaria flinched as it stopped mid-flight. Apparently, there was an application of Metal Sound, and it was more than enough to temporarily stop the cloud-bird in her tracks. A few moments later, a barrage of coins came flying from the weird thing, pelting the Altaria head-on.[break][break]

“What the—“ Alexei exclaimed, before a soft glow that intensified came from the Altaria’s being, before a solidified blast of lunar energy came crashing down on it. A Moonblast attack ripped through the space, before it was followed up with a blast of draconic energy from her mouth.[break][break]

“Be careful!” he called out as the weird cat charged forward with its head bowed low. He recognized the signs of an Iron Head attack, and the Altaria sailed upward, bringing down another Moonblast attack on the weird thing. A flailing attempt at Metal Claw tried to swipe at the cloud bird, but she flew higher and breathed down another Dragon Breath attack on the attacking Pokémon.[break][break]

A few moments later an empty Pokéball went flying, catching the weird thing before it decided to make a run for it.
